KINDERCARE LEAVING BACK-UP CARE NETWORK &
EFS PROGRAM TALKING POINTS
Please Note: You know your client best and understand their feelings about KinderCare.
Please customize your talk track to best speak to and meet your client’s needs.
 KinderCare is leaving the Back-Up Care network and the Enhanced Family Supports
program as of July 10, 2023.
 KinderCare joined the Back-Up Care network in July 2020 to provide pandemic relief
when some of our Bright Horizons centers were closed. Now, as Bright Horizons centers
have reopened and coverage is strong in most places where KinderCare centers have
been utilized, the timing is right for this transition.
 Although KinderCare was a valuable pandemic solution to help ensure your employees’
care needs were solved, they provided a small percentage of overall utilization, and that
utilization has declined over time.
 Last year, we filled 88% of center-based care with our network outside of
KinderCare; KinderCare accounted for only 12% of extended network care
 58% of center-based care was filled by Bright Horizons owned center
network alone
 KinderCare provided 34% less Back-Up Care in 2022 than they did in 2021
 Bright Horizons coverage for your employees remains strong with our industry-leading
network. Our Back-Up Care provider team is identifying any areas where there may be
gaps in coverage from KinderCare’s departure and is working to fill those gaps with
additional care solutions that meet our rigorous quality standards.
 We understand that some of your employees may have used KinderCare centers to
meet their Back-Up Care needs. We will work to deliver a seamless transition from those
centers to another high-quality care option within our network.
 We also want to assure you that your employees will not lose their Enhanced Family
Supports discounts when KinderCare leaves the program in July. Providers are required
to honor the tuition discount for each child enrolled at the time of termination, as long as
the child remains continuously enrolled at that provider center.
 We remain committed to evolving and innovating our offerings and network to meet the
changing needs of your employees.
 Thank you for your partnership.
